I have been working with lead for more than 45 years and it has been my privilege to work on some of Scotland's most prestigious and historic buildings. My work experience covers a broad spectrum of different types of leadwork, ranging from flashings, chimneys, skews, flat roofs, right up to ornamental leadwork which includes turrets, domes, steeples and ornamental features.
Through my craftsmanship and knowledge, I have earned an award winning reputation in the replacement and redesign of lead on many historic buildings. In many cases, being responsible for leading and working alongside teams of craftsmen which have won the top leadwork award in Britain several times.
Many of the projects I have been involved with, it has been necessary to liaise and work alongside architects in the design of new roofs and the redesign of existing structures.
The Romans were fitting lead on roofs more than two thousand years ago and to this day it is still the preferred choice of material to weather roofs. In the last fifty years many alternative materials have come and gone but none have been able to compare with the sustainability and quality of lead. If lead is fitted in the correct manner, size, code and proper fixings to allow for thermal movement, it will last up to 100 years or more and has even been known to outlast the buildings themselves.
Granted, it is not the cheapest of materials, but it is, without doubt, the cheapest option due to its quality and sustainability. It is better to do a job “right once” than to do it wrong several times.

The lead that we use has the lowest carbon footprint of all similar materials. It is 100% recyclable.
We have the craftsmanship skills to undertake the design and manufacture of clients personal design requests. I have personally have been commissioned to produce lead ornamental features at the request of clients in the past such as the English rose and Scottish thistle intertwined the two different nationalities of clients (husband and wife).
